As you consider purchasing a BelAire balustrade, this cost and pricing guide will help you develop an initial budget and plan for the ownership costs associated with each type of balustrade.

If you are looking to replace your balustrade or install a new one, you have come to the right place. Many homeowners enter the process of building or replacing a balustrade without a clear understanding of the overall costs and how those costs are broken down. Replacing or building a new balustrade can be comparable to purchasing a new car or renovating your home.

Here at BelAire, we have been in the fencing business for over 20 years and have a good understanding of the costs associated with different fencing and balustrade systems, as well as other expenses that may arise depending on the type of fence you choose. We would like to provide you with information to help alleviate any confusion and concerns about balustrade costs.

Factors you need to consider before purchasing a balustrade:

Ease of Installation:

When choosing a balustrade system, consider how many components it includes and how easy the installation will be. Remember, time is money. If you, your builder, or a professional will be installing the fencing, the installation costs could end up being more than the product itself, especially if it is difficult and time-consuming to install.

Foundations:

You will need to consider what you are installing your balustrade into or on top of, as there are many different fixing types. Most popular would be fixing into timber or Concrete and sometimes into Steel. Balustrades generally always going onto a foundation or struction that would be compliant to NZ3604 so if built correctly it will take the load of the Balustrade. All our balustrades come with a flanged base option for either top fixed or side fixed balustrades.

Compliance:

Make sure you choose a system that is compliant to F4 where there is a fall of over 1000mm or higher. All BelAire Balustrade systems come with PS1's to comply with F4. You can find all our PS1's here:  BelAire Balustrade PS1's

Maintenance:

Maintenance is an important factor to consider. Choose a material that aligns with your willingness to maintain it (e.g., wood requires regular staining, while powder coated slat fencing or coloursteel fencing is low maintenance). If you reside in an area with extreme weather conditions, such as heavy winds or moisture, certain materials may be more suitable than others. We recommend selecting a fence type that requires minimal ongoing maintenance, ensuring you don’t incur additional costs in the future. When it comes to the glass balustrades we would recommend adding the enduroshield option to make cleaning a load easier for you, see more information here: https://www.belairefencing.co.nz/enduroshield

Lifespan:

Think about the materials you are using and how they will react to New Zealand's weather conditions and UV exposure. For example, plastic, WPC, and timber fencing may not withstand New Zealand's climate as well as materials like aluminium and steel and glass. While timber and plastic fencing can be more affordable, you will likely need to replace them much sooner than balustrades made with steel or aluminum posts.

To help you get some indicative rates for your proposed fencing, please use the calculators below to give you an idea of what your new fence will cost. We have multiple calculators available, and you can simply use the sliders to estimate the costs for your project.
